I recently signed a contract to purchase a home. Well, a condo. But home nonetheless.

In the past, I had a fiscally responsible partner to take the plunge with me. So when it came to financing, closing, inspections, mortgages, insurance and all of that stuff, I just said “uh, ok.”, and signed my life away. Because I knew if something happened, there would still be another income to pay the bills.

But this time, it’s all me. I’ve been the evaluating the potential properties. I’ve been the one paying for inspections. I’ve been rounding up every piece of financial information to give to the mortgage company.

I have also been scrutinizing my finances down to the penny. And honestly, I don’t know how some people do it. I mean I am not exactly rolling in dough. But I have a good job that pays well yet I am terrified about having to cover that nut every month.

And I’m not even buying a WHOLE house. Half a house actually. My house hopefully.
